- Abstract
- The article discusses the treatment of fines - (or sieved fraction) of municipal solid waste (MSW), released by their automatic sorting. Despite a significant percent which fines is of the total weight of MSW, the rational use of sieved fraction in the scientific literature is hardly discussed. In this study information about the basic properties of the sieved fraction of MSW (its morphological composition, moisture content, density), depending on the properties of the original MSW, was obtained and analyzed. It is shown how the properties of sieved fraction affect the choice of technology (there were examined thermal recycling, biodegradation and extraction of secondary resources) for its - fines - further use.
