- Abstract
- Theoretically, the thermal process of electrofusion welding of polyethylene pipes for gas pipelines with couplings with embedded heating elements at air temperatures below the standard is investigated. The latent heat of phase transition in the temperature range is taken into account in the mathematical model of the heat process of welding used. The results of a numerical calculation of the thermal process of welding at various ambient temperatures by the finite element method using the FEniCS computational package are presented. A technique for determining the parameters of electrofusion welding of polyethylene pipes providing the flow of the thermal process at low temperatures of ambient air is developed according to the regularities inherent in welding at acceptable temperatures.
