- Abstract
- This article discusses the specifics of polymer waste disposal, which makes up for a significant fraction of municipal solid waste. The process of biochemical destruction of packaging plastic film and bags in the environment and at their disposal facilities is described. Particular attention is paid to the use of oxo-degradable polymers in connection with the possibility of more efficient use of landfill area. A thermodynamic analysis of polymerization and depolymerization (destruction) processes was carried out. Recommendations are given on accelerating the process of decomposition of waste plastic film at the landfill. The influence of decomposition products of polymer waste on the environment is considered. The Biodegradable program has been developed to assess the environmental and economic feasibility of using oxo-degradable materials, taking into account the territorial and economic characteristics of an administrative unit.
