- Abstract
- As a result of JSC "Plasma's" (Ryazan) investigating spark-gap surge arresters experimental samples which have dynamic breakdown voltage range 100-500 kV, in the process of research and development activity within the period from 1972 to 1987, basic design was selected. The main technical characteristics of series spark-gap surge arresters РО-48, РО-43, РО-49, РО-50 were defined, and practical recommendations for designing gas-filled unsolder ceramic-metal spark-gaps were given. There were also defined mathematical relations of size and geometrical shape of gas-filled spark-gap surge arresters that shall provide best characteristics: short switching time and high voltage proof, with lifetime of ~107 switches in the set operation mode.
