- Abstract
- The article presents the mathematical and simulation modeling of an electromagnetic drive for a tactile dot of a Braille display. The object under study includes a miniature coil wound on a 1 mm ferrite core, a moving cam element and guiding housing parts. The main electrical parameters of the coil are estimated, including the number of turns, wire length, active resistance and operating currents at 5 V and 12 V. It is shown that a real coil cannot be represented as an ideal inductance only, because the winding resistance significantly influences the current and voltage levels. Therefore, an equivalent RL model of the actuator was implemented in Multisim. Since the remaining dots of the Braille cell operate according to the same electrical principle, one representative control channel was modeled. The transistor equivalents of the driver stages were built according to the datasheets of the real driver arrays. The obtained results confirm that the proposed electromagnetic drive can serve as a basis for a compact Braille cell.
