- Abstract
- When designing access to databases from the Internet, it is required to solve some data security problems. Three-tier architecture using a middleware server (namely access server) allows you to simplify data protection. In this case, the access server can be considered as a single point of authentication and management of user access to databases. A user must pass several levels of authentication to access the required data in this architecture. Therefore it looks right to use the concept of single sign-on for user authentication. The role-based access model allows to simplify user rights management. In combination with single sign-on it also provides the ability to extend the system to a potential unlimited number of users, which is important for the Internet.
