- Abstract
- The article examines the environmental risks associated with the development of the oil and gas complex in the Samara Region. Based on official reports on the environmental situation in the Samara Region for 2022-2024 and a number of scientific publications, the paper analyzes the impact of oil production, transportation of hydrocarbons, and oil refining on the state of atmospheric air, surface and groundwater, soils, and land. Special attention is given to the negative consequences of the operation of oil fields and oil refineries, which include pollution with petroleum products and heavy metals, land degradation, and increased environmental risks for the population. Key risk factors have been identified, their significance has been qualitatively assessed, and the main directions for reducing environmental risks have been outlined, including improving the monitoring system, transitioning to less hazardous technologies, and strengthening environmental protection activities. Conclusions and practical recommendations are formulated, aimed at ensuring environmentally oriented and sustainable development of the region's oil and gas complex.
