- Abstract
- This article presents the research results dealing with the wood filler amount effect on the principle properties of heat-insulating composite material, produced from expanded polystyrene containing consumption waste, dissolved in methylene chloride. To produce the developed material, all components were mixed reaching homogeneous raw material mixture, followed by cold pressing and heat treatment at the solvent boiling point. Basing on the research results, the amount of wood filler was determined, thus providing the combination of low water absorption and thermal conductivity with sufficiently high strength characteristics, making it possible to use this material for both internal and external thermal insulation of buildings and structures. The application of the designed raw mixture provides on the one hand the production of high-quality construction material at low cost, and on the other hand the possibility to utilize low-grade wood residue and none-demanded foam polystyrene waste.
