- Abstract
- In this article the author describes the main-technical and technological special features and possibilities of the methods of electrostimulated rolling of both flat components (strips, bands) and rod and wire materials. The main factors of the new process are formulated: local Joule heating of the defects in the metal structure and microirregularities in the contact zone between the metal of the blank and the surface of the working tool. The important role of the large reduction of the contact friction forces on the distribution of the acting stresses and strains in the rolled billet is stressed. Special attention is given to examining various methods of introduction high-intensity electric current on to the rolled billet both in the deformation zone and prior to entering this zone. Procedures of producing different composite materials whose components can be both metallic and non-metallic are described.
