- Abstract
- The possibilities to reduce the influence of structures of armoring elements, their matrix and corresponding structural roughness of surface of composite materials used for thermal protection system (TPS) on the ablated shapes and aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft detected in full-scale and ground firing tests are examined. The resulted study of the heat exchange dependence and the shape ablated in flight of C-C composite materials for TPS of hypersonic aircraft on the structural parameters of materials are provided. The requirements to structural parameters of materials that ensure the decreased changes in the aicraft shapes and their deviations in ablation are formulated. The results of submicroscopic and X-ray studies of a series of available and advanced C-C composites, the comparative analyses of shapes and drags of aircraft modelled with these materials confirmed feasibility of use of new C-C composite materials for thermal protection of hypersonic aircraft.
