- Abstract
- It is shown, that a wide variety of polymer composite materials on the basis of aramid fibers, having a great range of mechanical, processing and functional characteristics has been created at the institute. Effective technological processes and semi-finished products shapes have been developed as well. This allows to use a high strength, processability and other benefits of aramid fibers in composites at most. However at contact with metal parts the impurities in aramid fibers, used as reinforcing fillers in polymer composite materials on the basis of aramid fibers may show a corrosivity. Difficult to be removed traces of fiber-forming polymer synthesis products, having an acid reaction are the most dangerous. Technique for testing of acid content of aramid fibers on the basis of thermogravimetric analysis method has been developed for rejecting those fillers.
