- Abstract
- The effect of zirconium in multilayer coatings on the basis of alternating layers of TiN and ZrN on the corrosion resistance of hard alloy VC8 in a solution of 3 % NaCl had been studied. It was found that multilayer coatings based ZrN0.28 phase with zirconium contents exceeding 58.28 at. % and reduced nitrogen concentration lead to a substantial lowering of current density and anodic polarization potential corrosion, a multiple increase in the polarization resistance in the solution of 3 % NaCl. The optimal combination of anodic current density, polarization corrosion potential and polarization resistance corresponds to the multi-layer coating TiN-ZrN with Zr = 74.31at. % and N = 20.27 at. %, slightly different from the stoichiometric composition of the ZrN0.28 phase.
