- Abstract
- A possibility of quality diagnostics of polymer composite products during their uniaxial load-bearing loading is shown on the basis of the analysis of dynamic temperature fields. It was found that: at the stage of accumulating microdefects, about 40 % of the total irreversibly dissipated mechanical energy is spent on heating the material and 60 % - on its failure (increase of defect concentration), and losses of temperature concerned with heat transfer into the environment not exceed a few hundredths of a degree; if a stress concentrator is available, the non-uniformity of a deformation field carries to irregular heat release in the material. The difference between the temperature near the concentrator and a background value is 1.5 to 2.5 degrees when the level of deformation is 50 to 60 % of ultimate one. The temperature dependence of deformation has a character similar to the quadratic function; signs of the presence of stress concentrators in a product in the form of reliably identifiable temperature anomalies (DT ³ 1.50) are fixed under the deformation of not more than 55 % of ultimate one that allows the product quality to be estimated without carrying it to failure. It is noted that the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental data. It allows us to conclude that calculated normal temperature fields when determining microdamage accumulation areas in elements of polymer composite structures can be used as reference ones.
