- Abstract
- The paper provides the results of thermogravimetric testings of samples of the phenolic carbon-reinforced plastics cut out of different areas of a thermal protection screen and the results of processed experimental data. It was found out that profiles of mass loss rate and mass variation of samples during thermal decomposition were well conformable, however there was a dispersion in results due to variations in humidity and mass of a binding agent in samples. The paper contains a methodology to assess variation mass of the phenolic carbon-reinforced plastic during its thermal decomposition within a range up to 1000 ᵒС using Arrhenius equations of chemical kinetics and corresponding values of activation energy and pre-exponential factor that are in good conformance with the obtained experimental data.
