- Abstract
- The mechanical characteristics of polymer composite materials (PCM) products are greatly influenced by technological factors. The increased dispersion of strength and rigidity parameters of PCM forces the aviation developers to assign additional strength margin compared to metal structures. This leads to an increase in the weight of the aircraft structure made of PCM, to a deterioration of other operational characteristics, and a decrease in competitiveness. Application of various non-destructive tests of manufactured products, the diagnosis of manufacturing defects and the rejection of structural elements after inspection allows us to increase the quality, achieve the necessary physical and mechanical, first of all, strength characteristics of PCM elements and, on this basis, reduce unnecessary reserves assigned during the design of aircraft structures. The issues of weight reduction of the composite structure were considered for several manufacturing technology variants, and compared with a traditional metal structure.
