- Abstract
- This article is concerned with the problem of local buckling of ribs of lattice composite structures widely used in aerospace technology. The critical load which causes local buckling of ribs is one of the primary factors which determines the load carrying capacity of the structure. A typical lattice cell of a cylindrical shell consisting of helical and hoop ribs and loaded with uniaxial compression is considered to obtain the critical stress. Equations which specify the critical stresses are presented. Analytical results are compared with experiment.
