- Abstract
- A experiments series on barely visible impact damage (BVID) detection by depth to 0,2-1,0 mm on polymer composite materials (PCM) samples in the form of plates 150´100´6 mm is made. BVID detectability comparison by results of ultrasonic control (USC) of samples (reference method) with experimental data optical surface profilometry is executed. The quantitative difference of external signs of PCM samples impact damages with their internal fractures are determined. It is experimentally confirmed that quantities of the areas of visually/optical registered impact dents in plastics 10 times less the destroyed fields (delaminations and crackings), revealed by the reference USC-method. The used methods tolerance zones of nondestructive testing for PCM BVID detection are revealed: £10 J for carbon-plastics, £20 J for glass-plastics. Are constructed regression the model of correlative connections of damageability of PCM expressed through square of damage, and energy of normalized impacts. Correlatively-regression model is described by polynomial equations. Coefficients of correlation and determination showed high quality of the created models.
