- Abstract
- Dependence of elastic properties upon a stress state is known for some class of isotropic composite materials. For example, the effect is expressed in the fact that the value of the tensile modulus of elasticity differs from the compressive modulus. The theory of tensor functions enables one to describe mathematically the mentioned phenomena as well as to obtain the relationships between strain and stresses for these materials. A tensor is introduced which describes a type of material stress state. Elastic potential is a scalar function of two symmetrical second rank tensors: stress tensor and tensor which describes the material stress state.
