- Abstract
- Real physical roughness of thermal-protective coatings of a flight vehicle (FV) is used to be geometrically heterogeneous, so, when estimating heat exchange one usually inputs parameters of sandy-grained roughness equivalent to real physical roughness in its influence on drag and intensification of heat exchange for laminar and turbulent flow regimes. A height of equivalent sandy-grained roughness is experimentally obtained by measuring the drag of longitudinal flow around tubes and plates on which flat surfaces roughness elements of different geometrical shapes are applied/fixed, the number of roughness elements per square unit differs. Correlations used to estimate the height of equivalent sandy-grained roughness are obtained on the basis of the experiments. The article presents the comparison of results we estimated using correlations suggested by R. Dirling, V. V. Mikhaylov, N. A. Samoylov with H. Schlichting's experimental data and recommends a refined correlation enlarging the field of their application.
