- Abstract
- This article proposes a classification of 3D printing methods, dividing them into contour-based and layer-based. The validity of this approach is demonstrated by comparing specific technologies. Secondary classification criteria are presented, and generalized process flow diagrams for six typical 3D printing categories are developed. The resulting system can be used for standardization and unification in the field, as well as for process planning. The classification covers a wide range of moldable materials, including composites.
