- Abstract
- The results of hardening modification of cured polymer composite materials (PCM) in a microwave electromagnetic field were analyzed. It was shown that a combination of energy flux density and exposure time, ensuring material heating to a temperature of 60-80 оC, is essential for achieving the desired effect. The disadvantages of microwave modification in beam-type chambers with sequentially arranged emitters were noted, and it was proposed to implement hardening microwave modification of large-scale PCM components by discretely moving (scanning) a horn emitter across the surface of the component with a delay at each scanning step. Experimental studies of the temperature field distribution over the irradiated surface were conducted using various scanning schemes. A rational value of 25 % overlap between the areas of the radiation pattern with the maximum energy flux density at each scanning step was established. This ensures uniform heating of the product surface with a spread of no more than ±5 оC, thereby ensuring a uniform distribution of the physical and mechanical properties of the modified structure.
