- Abstract
- Comparison of shear tests for measuring strength and elastic properties of carbon-carbon material at room temperature was fulfilled using specimens with four and two V-shaped notches. Experiments with such two types of samples lead to the same results. There was found out the strong influence of specimen alignment for essentially anisotropic carbon-carbon material on the experiment results. There was shown that alignment of specimen working part orthogonal to the lowest strength direction leads to underestimation of shear strength. For high temperature tests there was demonstrated that it is very undesirable to use the square-holed samples, while the usage of specimens with four V-shaped notches results to the predictable measured values.
